Decorators’ Showhouse book
Bea English Design Studio
Guest Bedroom Discovering
the beauty and serenity of the outdoors was the focus of our theme for
the guest retreat. Setting the stage for both drama and tranquility, we
placed a 7’ x 5’ art masterpiece on faux-finished walls. An assortment
of dark wood furniture pieces accent the unexpected, yet appealing,
paisley fabric. A new faux fireplace sparks added interest. The rich
four-poster bed, with its distinctive English flair, is dressed in a
canopy and custom-made bedding that conveys casual elegance. A
collection of unique accessories and lighting create an inviting
atmosphere for a restful nights’ sleep. This retreat speaks volumes of
beauty and peacefulness, inviting guests guests to linger.

Dining Room The
large, angular dining room presented a challenge due to its unique
shape. By drawing ideas from the new flooring pattern and considering
the needs of the client, we met our goal of keeping the room open while
creating a comfortable dining environment.
Chris Reed Interior
Design, which is responsible for overseeing the entire Showhouse
project, offers complete commercial, business and residential space
planning, interior design and renovation.

Interior/Exterior I
designed a home office for owner Jeannie Mazzanti-Schmitz, who sought a
comfortable, yet esthetically pleasing workspace. Located in a hallway
leading from the kitchen to the laundry room, the space previously
housed standard, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry. By eliminating the
cabinets, the nook became the perfect place for a home office. Because
the area is open and quite visible from the kitchen, it needed to fit
the surroundings and have an uncluttered look. I concealed the office
electronics behind custom cabinetry, utilizing shelves for decorative
items and personal touches. My design incorporates a mood and feeling
reflective of Jeannie’s work style and personality. The finished space
serves multiple purposes, doubling as a workstation and display for
books, art and more.
Interior/Exterior specializes in interior
architecture, design of outdoor spaces, custom furniture and rug design,
space planning and merchandising schemes for retail spaces. Lisa says
her work is “about her clients and their needs,” and all projects, large
and small, are important and present design challenges. She creates
designs that match clients’ lifestyles, locale and architectural
settings.
-- Pursley’s Interiors
Den/Office The
wildlife activities enjoyed by the homeowner provided our inspiration
for the study. We wanted to achieve a comfortable space with a masculine
yet modern atmosphere. To infuse the study with a sense of space, each
furnishing was specifically selected for its texture, color, scale
and/or function. Two custom-made, overstuffed leather chairs add rustic
elegance to the room. Warm hues of the wooden desk and fabric panels
alongside the French doors help create a peaceful space to be enjoyed by
the homeowner.
Family owned and operated since 1963, Pursley’s
Interiors started out reupholstering, designing and managing large-scale
projects. More than 42 years later, Pursley’s is known for superior
quality and innovative techniques in major remodeling, additions and new
space design. Whether you’re considering a redesign or just need the

Window Fashions dealer.

Mud/Laundry Room I’ve
converted the mud room into a fun craft room. A narrow space with a
small window and ample cabinets with a utility sink made it an ideal
place for a craft room. Taking inspiration from the outdoors, I sought
to bring the feeling of nature’s surroundings indoors. Light fabric
window treatments enhance natural light. And to give the illusion of a
beautiful garden peeking in, a mural was created on the door leading to
the garage. I kept the colors light and cheerful and created an Old
World feel by refinishing the cabinets and giving the walls a
hand-troweled finish. I’ve created a welcoming place to sit down, spend
some time and let one’s creativity flow.
Specializing in
customer wall finishes and murals, custom window treatments, children’s
and theme rooms and interior rearrangement, Room Solutions offers
complete decorating and design services.

-- The Wright Interior Design
Guest Bathroom The
guest bathroom features a quaint vanity area with plentiful counter
space, a high ceiling and a very large mirror spanning the entire wall –
creating the illusion of a much larger space. Ample lighting above the
mirror, as well as a small window near the shower area, bring additional
light. Because the vanity area is the focal point, my goals were to
create a warm, inviting area that offered a sensation of spaciousness
and a sense of the beautiful outdoors. Efficient lighting was installed
above the expansive mirror. With spring as my inspiration, I added the
breathtaking aroma of fresh, spring flowers and scented candles to
create a functional, tranquil environment that soothes and restores at
the end of the day. The Wright Interior Design specializes in
residential design. Owner Michelle Wright says each space has its own
story; her goal is to blend the clients’ personality and needs with the
design space. Other services include design consulting, one-day
redesign, home staging, selection and shopping for furniture and
accessories, room layouts and color, window and floor selection.
Michelle notes that periodically clients desire help with a day of
shopping in town for a summer home or guesthouse. The Wright Interior
Design is pleased to accommodate the needs of everyone they can.

Pantry With
abundant shelving and storage areas, the butler’s pantry is ideal for a
variety of uses. The adjacent kitchen conveniently accommodates all
chefs of the home. Our goals were to create a room to effectively
display a connoisseur’s collection of fine wines that also offered
plenty of space to store cookware and chef’s supplies. Drawing on an
Italian bistro theme, we developed an accessible space to facilitate a
range of activities, from entertaining to everyday storage.
-- Studio 113/John David
Kitchen & Nook The
1980s-style kitchen and eating area called for a more functional and
attractive look – blending new designs with original features. By
utilizing fresh textures and colors, along with contemporary and
traditional furnishings and accessories, Jon updated the kitchen,
transforming it into a warm, inviting space for homeowners and guests. Our
4,000-square-foot showroom features home furnishings and accessories,
including window coverings, custom fabrics and complete interior design
services. John David’s specialties include one-to-one color and design
consultations, room spins and complete home design packages, including
furnishings and accessories. We’re pleased to offer design services in
our showroom or in the comfort of your home.
-- Scenie Nursery, Concrete Concepts
Central Patio Scenic
Nursery displays containers on the concrete patio located between the
two wings of the house. The goal of the design was to demonstrate some
of the many beautiful and creative ways containers can be utilized in
this setting. The patio area is softened with plant material that brings
intimate focus to the area, while remaining mindful of the magnificent,
mature redwoods that form the backdrop for the entire back yard.
With
both a retail nursery and a garden crew, Scenic Nursery is the most
established, full-service nursery in our trade area. We opened in 1949.
Our goal is to provide our customers with the information and products
necessary to assure their gardening success.
Concrete Concepts
sought to construct a rear patio and walkway that was interesting and
different, yet not overpowering. Drainage and appearance were the two
challenges we addressed. We installed a drain and arrived at a color
scheme and texture that complimented both surfaces. Ken Westfall of
Westfall Design Studios provided a set of plans for a great patio and
walkway design, to which we added some alterations for function and
size.
A small concrete company specializing in decorative
finishes, Concrete Concepts specializes in projects that require complex
form work and/or high attention to detail. In addition to traditional
flatwork, such as patios, walkways and driveways, we also construct
garden walls, water features, interior floors and countertops.
